Flute practice log

A simple way to keep a flute practice log: what to practice each day, a free printable chart, and an app that keeps the log for you.

A 25-minute flute practice routine

Long tones (5 min)Hold low notes with a steady, centred sound; listen to the start and end of each note.
Technique (5–10 min)Scales and articulation patterns, slurred and tongued, with a metronome.
Pieces (10–15 min)Mark the breaths in pencil; practise the hard runs slowly in small groups.
Play-through (5 min)A piece you know well, focusing on tone.

Take a short break if you feel light-headed: breathing takes practice too.
