Clarinet practice log
A simple way to keep a clarinet practice log: what to practice each day, a free printable chart, and an app that keeps the log for you.
A 25-minute clarinet practice routine
| Long tones (5 min) | Steady notes in the low register, then over the break, with a firm, even embouchure. |
| Technique (5–10 min) | Scales slurred and tongued; practise crossing the break slowly. |
| Pieces (10–15 min) | The tricky fingerings on their own first, then in the phrase. |
| Play-through (5 min) | A review piece, listening for tone. |
Rotate two or three reeds so each one lasts longer.
What to write in the log
- The date and how many minutes.
- What was practiced: the scale, the piece and the bars.
- How it went, and anything to ask the teacher.
